Description

DermaBest® Novitil® is an advanced skin preparation for topical use. There are virtually no side-effects associated with its use. It can be added to any appropriate schedule of light treatment. Once a phototherapeutic schedule is defined, adding Novitil® is straightforward. It can be used in combination with standard treatment options like topical steroids, PUVA, etc.

How to use

Apply the gel twice a day, and rub it gently using the fingertips on the affected areas (white patches). These areas should then be exposed to direct sunlight (recommended), once a day. Start with 5 minutes of sun exposure for each treatment and increase the exposure by 5 minutes every day until reaching 30 minutes per treatment. For best results regular use is strongly recommended. Only depigmented areas need sunlight exposure. The rest of the body can be covered with clothes or a high sun block cream. Use sunglasses to protect your eyes. Alternatively, when it is not possible to take the sun on a given day, the areas with white spots can be exposed to infrared light, from a distance of 18″ to 20″ (45 to 50 cm), for 20 minutes, after each application. However, this alternative light treatment should always be used in the context of regular sunlight exposure, as described in the preceding paragraph. Regular use of Novitil® may be combined with an artificial source of Ultraviolet (UV) light (instead of sunlight exposure). The benefits are more complete results and shorter duration of treatment. Artificial ultraviolet light should only be used following directions from someone who is appropriately qualified, and has experience regarding its use in cases of depigmentation. UV light B (UVB) and UVA (“tanning beds” or sunlamps) are the main types of artificial UV light. Avoid washing the skin where Novitil® was applied for at least 2 hours. Keep the product in a dry, cool place, out of direct exposure to the light.

Ingredients

Proteins, Polypeptides, Distilled Water, Glycerine, Aloe Barbadensis, Carboxymethylcellulose, Camphor, Menthol, Kathon and Oligoelements. Not all of these ingredients are active ingredients. The support ingredients included in Novitil are: carboxymethyl cellulose (a thickening agent for holding other ingredients together in a gel matrix), kathon (also known as methylchloroisothiazolinone, a preservative with antibacterial and antifungal properties) and glycerin (a solvent, preservative and thickening agent). Both camphor and menthol are secondary ingredients. They produce a cooling effect on skin while also reducing irritation and providing local anesthetic effects. Camphor is also an antimicrobial agent and menthol has an analgesic property. The main ingredients of Novitil are proprietary blends of lipoproteins, polypeptides and oligoelements. Lipoproteins are biochemical compounds formed from the combination of proteins and lipids. These lipoproteins serve different purposes but the most important of these are the building of surface membrane proteins and facilitating the transport of essential nutrients in and out of cells. Lipoproteins represent a wide range of biological structures including enzymes, structural proteins, transporters, antigens and even toxins. Polypeptides are long, unbranched peptides. They make up the structures of proteins. Since proteins form a vast range of biological molecules including enzymes, cofactors and structural molecules, they can serve different purposes and have different medicinal properties. Oligoelements are trace essential nutrients. The minerals included in oligoelement complexes include zinc, copper, iron, magnesium, manganese, potassium, selenium, calcium, phosphorus etc. These minerals fulfil a number of purposes in the body. They correct nutritional deficiencies and help drive important biochemical processes. Aloe barbadensis is also known as aloe vera. It is an important remedy in traditional medicine. The inclusion of aloe barbadensis in Novitil serves the purpose of preventing excessive suntan, sunburn and other damage caused by exposing the skin to ultraviolet light.
